The room before the plan

Starting from one room and letting the rest of the building follow it.

Notes

Atlas p4

On most of our projects there is a single room that matters more than the others. The reading room, the hall, the court. We draw that room first, at full size where we can, and let the plan arrange itself around it.

The risk is obvious — the remaining rooms become leftovers. Guarding against that is most of the work.
